Don’t Be Afraid to Make Moves!
Moving can be a scary thing to do – especially if it’s across the country. When Caroline Cameron was given the opportunity to move to Vancouver for her job, she jumped at the chance. Ultimately, she is happy with her decision as it helped her build her confidence – and helped her career.
2. Take A Step of Faith
Noelle Wansbrough grew up with a love and passion for cycling and eventually turned that passion into a business. As she says in this quote, if she had never taken that first step, she wouldn’t have been able to create a successful business out of her lifelong passion.
3. Don’t Care What People Think
Those of us in more artistic and creative industries have definitely felt the pressure of the ‘starving artist’ ideology. Laura Sousa started off in a corporate job at TD bank, before becoming a florist – a career change that most people may have questioned. However, at the end of the day, it only matters if you are happy with your choices.
4. Change Your Perspective (While Still Honouring Your Emotions)
After Emily Hall went through a devastating loss, she turned her mourning into action and created a business. Her childhood fascination with creating jewelry helped her cope with her loss and build a successful business.
5. Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help
As Whitney Keunen, Power in Heels’ very own co-host says during Eilenna Denisoff’s episode, therapy is universal! You are allowed to get help for the smallest of issues, it doesn’t have to be for a life altering tragedy.
6. Find a Job You Love
Finding a career that you are truly passionate about is a goal everyone is working towards, and it’s definitely worth it. Eilenna Denisoff has always loved helping people, which is what led her to open her own psychology practice. Through her work, she is fighting to end the stigma surrounding mental health.
7. Be Your Authentic Self
Shannon Burns grew up keeping her sexuality hidden, until she decided to come out live, on-air. Her decision allowed her to feel more confident in herself and finally be honest about who she is.
